According to Yahoo Movies on Feb. 9, last week it has been announced that a "Guardians of the Galaxy" sequel is scheduled to be released May 2016. Now, with phase three in the works, Chris Pratt's character, Peter Quill/Star Lord, looks to be joining the ensemble in the "Avengers 3" film in 2018.
That being said, it's still miles away to even see such future films. "Guardians of the Galaxy" is of yet to be released, Joss Whedon's "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" hasn't even started filming, and James Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" film is but a speculative notion in the director's eyes.
This could all depend on the success of "Guardians of the Galaxy" this year, but one would have to be pretty negative to think it'll fail, after all Gunn is highly confident in the future of Pratt's film career in general that would extend beyond the Marvel film.
For those wanting to dip their toes into the continuing faces of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, feel free to see "Guardians of the Galaxy" come Aug. 1.
