Chris Pratt officially is Star Lord in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy'

According to io9 on Feb 6, Chris Pratt, well known for his role on NBC’s “Parks and Recreation" and “Zero Dark Thirty”, will be playing the role of Star Lord in "Guardians of the Galaxy".

Pratt will be taking on the role of Peter Quill, an astronaut in the space program who later becomes an intergalactic super hero.

It is highly questionable that Marvel would take on this actor of comedy. To hardcore fans, it would even be branded as odd. Pratt has had very few roles in any kind of drama and there’s nothing at all funny about the comic book. Of course, how can anyone take a talking space raccoon seriously either? Also, Marvel is known for its unexpected twists when transitioning from the comic world to the cinematic world.

In “Wolverine Origins”, Deadpool, played by Ryan Reynolds, is also referred to as the “Merc with a Mouth”. As anyone could have easily guessed, he didn't have a mouth.

Deadpool was also the nastiest and fearsome adversary. In the comic, he’s comedic. That being said, perhaps Marvel is turning the tables by bringing a comedic actor into a character known for a serious role. So it’s a wonder how it will play out.

So it may stand to reason that “Guardians of the Galaxy” could be a super hero comedy. It also appears that James Gunn has already started work on the film as he bids his friends farewell on his trip to the UK.
