They say Chris Paul is the do it all point guard and the pundits maybe spot on with this one. On Wednesday August 21, Chris Paul AKA CP3 was elected President of the National Basketball Players Association. He is replacing the venerable Derek Fisher.
Earlier in the month, there were rumors that Lebron James would attempt to run for the top position, but he thought better of it, and dropped out of consideration. For Chris Paul, he has been heavily involved with the players union in prior years. Previously he has served as Vice President, but now he is in charge of the whole process.
It’s interesting that a star of Paul’s stature would run for president of the NBPA. This job is time consuming, and during the past lockout, you saw the negotiations take a toll on Derek Fisher.
Paul Stated, “My first priority is to continue to get as much involvement as possible from our players.” Chris Paul wants to use a collective effort on part of the players tp get things done for the betterment of the league and its players.
Roger Mason Jr. has been voted in as the first Vice President. Other officers involved with the NBPA are Steve Blake and Anthony Tolliver.
