Hall of Fame rockers and those who will undoubtedly be considered in the near future will pay tribute to this year's inductees next Thursday at the 29th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in New York.
Although KISS will not perform, the band will be inducted by fellow New Yorker Tom Morello, guitarist for Rage Against The Machine and Audioslave. Morello once told Eddie Trunk on That Metal Show that KISS were the first band he saw in concert.
Nirvana will be inducted by Michael Stipe, frontman for Hall of Fame band R.E.M., while Peter Gabriel will be inducted by Chris Martin of Coldplay. Its unclear whether the surviving members of Nirvana (which includes Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters) will perform. Gabriel is expected to perform.
Daryl Hall & John Oates will be inducted by fellow Philadelphia musician Questlove--drummer for The Roots and a nightly performer on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Questlove was recently added to chair the Rock Hall's Hip Hop Committee. Hall & Oates will perform and are set for a U.S. and Europe tour beginning in May.
Linda Ronstadt will be inducted by Glenn Frey of The Eagles. Frey and fellow bandmate Don Henley were particularly outspoken about Ronstadt's exclusion from the Hall in recent years. Frey and Henley played in one of Ronstadt's first touring bands. Ronstadt is battling Parkinson's Disease and will not make the trip to New York. An all-star female ensemble including Stevie Nicks, Bonnie Raitt, Carrie Underwood, Emmylou Harris and Sheryl Crow will perform in her honor.
Bruce Springsteen will induct his band--The E Street Band who were not inducted with Springsteen many years ago. Springsteen and The E Street Band are expected to perform. Interesting note here: Tom Morello is also on tour with Springsteen.
Finally, the presenter for Cat Stevens is still to be determined. (Sheryl Crow?) Stevens has said he will perform.
