According to a report published today by the Winnipeg Sun, Chris Jericho could potentially be set for a yet-to-be confirmed return to WWE action in early 2014. The article plugs an upcoming WWE Live event at Winnipeg's MTS Centre on March 7th, and states that Jericho is bringing the WWE back to town. This of course conflicts with Jericho tweeting weeks ago that he would not be returning to the company anytime soon.
This story could have been leaked through a local source in Winnipeg involved promoting the event, which was the case with news of the return of former WWE Champion Batista who is officially advertised for a return on 'RAW' on January 20th. The Animal's return was made public when the lineups for several non-televised WWE events were made public by separate arenas. Batista is officially participating the Royal Rumble on Sunday January 26th.
There has been industry speculation that WWE is leaking these returns by big name WWE stars to build up buzz for the company as it marches towards Wrestlemania 30 in April and the late February launch of the WWE Network, a 24/7 digital streaming service.
WWE has not confirmed Y2J's return to the company but they also have not disavowed the story in the Sun today either. Pro Wrestling Examiner reported a couple weeks ago that not only could Jericho return soon but another former World Champion is heavily rumored to be returning at the Rumble in Pittsburgh, PA. Read about that story at this link.
Jericho has been busy since his most recent WWE exit last year. He has been touring heavily with his successful heavy metal band Fozzy and launching his highly popular podcast 'Talk of Jericho'.
