Fourteen extraordinary albums. Twelve singles. Two Grammy-award nominations. Roles in major motion pictures. A critically acclaimed TV series. Yep, Chris Issak is definitely a true force of entertainment.
Coming into the consciousness of many with his still stellar video for the haunting and unusual sounding “Wicked Game” in the 80s, Chris Issak has remained a part of entertainment’s lexicon for 30+ years.
He is so cool that even his hair has its own fan club. True story.
According to Isaak, “Wicked Game”, “Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing” and “Somebody’s Crying” may be his best-known songs, but after more than 25 years, he has finally created the album he's always wanted to make, Beyond the Sun.
It’s no surprise that Isaak has a self-proclaimed obsession with the glory days of Memphis' Sun Studio and the visionary artists who got their starts there—including Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis—all of them discovered and nurtured by the late, great Sun Records founder Sam Phillips. His look, his music, his clothes -- they all tell that story.
That story continues in a magical way with the accurately titled Beyond the Sun, where Isaak recaptures the brilliance of Sun Studio, and beyond, by paying tribute to the roots of Rock ‘n’ Roll with renditions of classics, plus new, original self-penned tunes.
No doubt we’ll get to hear some of these songs when he brings his show to Phoenix-area fans July 19. Hope to see you there!
The show will begins at 7:30 p.m. with the doors open at 6:30 p.m.
