The "Fifty Shades of Grey" rumor mill continues to churn in the new year. This time Chris Hemsworth is reportedly reading for a role he was not so keen on a few months ago and Krysten Ritter puts herself in the Ana Steele spotlight. On January 2nd both casting stories hit media outlets yet neither are likely to stick.
Chris Hemsworth was put in the spotlight by recent poll results showing his surge in popularity. The "Herald Sun" even reported on January 2 that the Aussie star may soon land the "coveted gig." Yet known facts seem to say otherwise as the 29 year old actor is both promoting and filming multiple movies including "Rush" and "Thor: Dark World." Along with his extremely full career, Hemsworth has a new family to think about. He told US Weekly about his newborn daughter, "it's certainly taken all my focus and attention away from work." Considering these facts it is not likely that he would be interested in taking on a hefty role such as Christian Grey. Fans are hoping that is the case with one admitting, "No. Absolutely not. Will not see this movie if he's cast." Although most fans simply would prefer a different actor play the part, Ian Somerhalder being named most often.
As for the role of Ana Steele, no favorite has been declared quite yet. So when Krysten Ritter's name was put in the mix by a news outlet, the star herself decided to fuel the flames by retweeting the story. She went on to tweet about the role, "I would be down ;)" on January 2. Although the "Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23" star is surely enjoying the publicity, she is unlikely, at 31, to be cast as the 22 year old virginal college graduate. A fan noted, "as much as I adore Krysten Ritter, does anyone believe she is a virgin? And her hair is way too dark. Whoever plays Ana should look young and naïve."
