Ever wanted to be an actor, but didn’t know where to start? Already an actor, but want to strengthen your abilities? Any artist will testify that the best way to gauge your talents, or to increase them is through hard work; logging hours upon hours of practice, and to study. It all amounts to training.
Just about every actor will also evidence that the hardest part of the process is getting in the door. Ah, the blasted audition. For many it is the wall that separates the actor from her work. But for some, it is simply the mountain conquered, the wall rubble beneath their feet. After this upcoming weekend, the audition can be just that for you too.
Coming to Kansas City, February 9 & 10, is a two day intensive acting workshop hosted by The Actor Factory.
Endorsed by Kansas City’s very own Emmy Award winning producer, director, and actor Meagan Flynn, the “Audition For Film & Television 1-Day Intensives with Chris Freihofer, CSA” will last from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and is open to ages 16 and up, regardless of skill level.
The one day course becomes a two day feast, if you feel nourished by the first day and want to continue with your growth -- the cost going from $175 for Saturday, to $300 for Saturday and Sunday.
CSA Casting Director and SAG actor Chris Freihofer travels with his popular class to a variety of cities throughout the year, promising a unique voyage into the process.
With other workshops, an actor can study along side 15-20 other students and only for a few hours. But Freihofer limits each class to 12 pupils and extends the number of hours so that each gets a lot of one-on-one attention.
“Using scripts from current television series and recent motion pictures awaiting release, Freihofer puts participants in front of the camera with prepared material and will offer helpful, constructive coaching. Participants are guaranteed to work two separate scenes during the day.”
After one day with Freihofer, the actor may no longer fear the audition and will be able to enter the room with confidence and poise. She’ll be that much closer to being the best actor she can be. She’ll be in the room ready to land the job.
