Baltimore Orioles fans were counting the Chris Davis homers in the opening games of the 2013 MLB season. Davis is just the fourth player in MLB history to hit home runs in each of the first four games of a season, reported The New York Times reported on April 6.
Fans were hoping for that streak to continue. However, Davis’ consecutive homerun streak ended at four, as he failed to knock one out of the park during the Orioles’ 6-5 loss to the Minnesota Twins on April 6. Had Davis hit a homer in that game, he would have become the first MLB player to start the season off with a homerun in each of his first five games.
As is stands, Davis’ homerun efforts have placed him in good baseball company. In fact, the feat of hitting home runs in each of the first four games of the 2013 season puts him in the company of some of baseball's most notable players. Davis joins Willie Mays, Mark McGwire and Nelson Cruz, the three other players to have knocked it out of the park in the first four games of a baseball season.
