Chris Cooper goes green as Norman Osborn in 'Amazing Spider-Man 2'

Oscar winner Chris Cooper has signed on to portray Norman Osborn/Green Goblin in director Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 -- succeeding Willem Dafoe, who originated the role of Spider-Man's arch-nemesis in director Sam Raimi's trilogy with Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, and James Franco.

Norman Osborn is the father of Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), who reunites with best friend Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), who continues to protect New York as the web-slinging superhero Spider-Man. However, Peter will be caught in a love triangle between Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) and Mary Jane Watson (Shailene Woodley).

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set to swing into theaters May 2, 2014.
