Chris Coleman latest: Joyce Meyer testifies in triple murder case (video)
Waterloo, Ill. - On Wednesday, televangelist Joyce Meyer gave testimony regarding the upcoming murder trial of Chris Coleman, a former employee.
Coleman, 32, was arrested and charged with the murders of his wife Sheri, 31, and their two children, Garrett, 11, and Gavin, 9, on May 5, 2009. He is accused of violently strangling all three, whose bodies were found in the Coleman home in their separate bedrooms.
Coleman claims innocence in the crimes, saying he had gone to the gym early in the morning, and when he returned, his family was dead, however, forensic tests confirm the family was killed before the time Coleman claims he left home.
Coleman resigned from his position on the security force of Joyce Meyer after the ministry claimed he committed a violation of moral conduct, due to the discovery he was allegedly involved in an extramarital affair with a Florida woman who was a friend of Coleman’s slain wife.
The girlfriend, Tara Lintz, contacted authorities, indicating Coleman had sent her emails saying they would marry in Jan. 2010 and and that he was planning to take her on a trip in the summer of 2009. She noted they had been exchanging explicit emails and phone messages prior to becoming physically intimate in Nov. 2008.
Meyer’s son Daniel also testified Wednesday.
The proceedings were closed to the media, however, Meyer’s said to media outside the courtroom that she answered every question asked of her inside the Monroe County Court as best she could.
Meyer is slated to be out of state during Coleman’s upcoming trial, thus her testimony was recorded and may be shown at the proceeding.
