Chris Carmichael's advice for the time-crunched athlete

"Use your time efficiently," says Carmichael.

Chris Carmichael, developer of Carmichael Training Systems and coach to Lance Armstrong and many other notable professional and weekend athletes, is currently on a tour of the country, promoting his book "The Time Crunched Cyclist".

While on his months-long book tour, he shares his experience as a professional cyclist and what led him to become a coach and mentor. He also shares some details of intimate conversations he had with cycling, and soon-to-be-and-once-again triathlon superstar Lance Armstrong, such as his promise to be racing in Kona.

Carmichael's training secrets for the road warriors, who have day jobs, is that they can still train competitively without putting in day-long workouts of foundation miles. Of course, for the professional athlete who gets paid to do so, that is the preferred methodology.

This training system includes days of efficient "energy system development" one hour per day, six days per week, totalling six hours per week. Each day consists of various interval training routines, threshold training, and recovery.

Carmichael, also, stresses the importance of including recovery workouts of lower intensity, and recovery days of no workouts, regularly. He states lack of recovery time is the greatest inhibitor of performance.

For more information, or to purchase "The Time-Crunched Cyclist," Carmichael recommends finding his book at Amazon.com or at major bookstores.

Carmichael assures us that "The Time-Crunched Triathlete" will be released next year, applying his six-hour-training-week principles.
