When: Wednesday, Nov. 6
Times: 5PM MST
Where: Fort Campbell, KY
UFC Fight For The Troops3 on Wednesday night in Fort Campbell, Kentucky is going to a very important fight for the UFC, our military and Littleton’s own, Chris Camozzi. The Factory X fighter and current UFC Middleweight will have a great opportunity to launch himself into the top 10-15 of the loaded 185 lb class with a victory over former Strikeforce veteran, Lorenz “Da Monsoon” Larkin.
Camozzi known for his crazy toughness and willingness to scrap it out with literally anyone, has shown the ability to match up well with just about anyone in the division and create some real damage when he lands his shots.
If you look at the last 4 out of 5 fighters Camozzi has faced, each has left with broken bones and or significant damages when tangling with Chris. Look at Nick Ring….broken cheek. Look at Dustin Jacoby (who was recently training here at FactoryX) he suffered a broken nose that is still problematic for him. Then there is Luiz Cane… a broken orbital to go home with. Then of course there is Nick Catone, who Camozzi battered and made Catone looked like he got out of a food processor…instead of a fight. Even though many may not think of him as a crushing hitter, this is the kind of damage and stealthy power that Camozzi can dole out on a regular night in the office.
All that fighting stuff aside, let’s take a deeper look into who “the person” Chris Camozzi is. This is a guy that cares deeply about his local community, the foundations that he works with, the growth of the local Colorado fight scene…and of course his team and coaches. His dedication to “giving back” is not just admirable…it’s just the norm for the 185 lb Colorado Killer.
He doesn’t do it for notoriety, he doesn’t do it for a pat on the back, he does it simply because that is who Chris Camozzi is. He is also a huge supporter of helping kids realize MMA (both in Brazil and here in Colorado) and how it can help them get out of the troubles they currently face…and hopefully one day, rise to the highest level in combat sports.
For this Wednesday night’s fights at UFC’s Fight For The Troops…Camozzi is working with The Fisher House. The Fisher House is an organization that “provides a "home away from home" for military families to be close to a loved one during hospitalization for an illness, disease or injury”. Camozzi comes from a military family and working with military foundations to help out in any way possible is exactly why Camozzi is a special guy to us here in Colorado…as well as a great example of UFC fighters…and mostly, MMA fighters across the planet.
Check out The Fisher House and see for yourself why this fight is such an important fight for Camozzi.
Aside from his fighting career, Camozzi just recently got married to his beloved Sacha and is also the Director of Fighter Relations for Sparta Combat League. There he is responsible for the growth and advancement of local fighters to get onto the Sparta shows. A devoted teammate and student, he also helps his teammates and younger brother phenom, Brian Camozzi with their training and corners them in their fights.
Colorado MMA community…we really need to support our local guys (as we always do) in their journeys that are not only setting the Colorado MMA bar at the highest levels, but also in helping these amazing entertainers know that the village needed to make them champions…is right there with them. Tune into Camozzi's fight on Facebook which begins at 2:00 pm MST on Wednesday.
Enjoy the fights Colorado!
