Virginia native Chris Brown, known for his rambunctious behavior yet one of R&B/hip hop’s popular artists, will appear in a Washington, D.C. court today on felony assault charges.
Brown has been in jail since Sunday; when he and his bodyguard were arrested at the W Hotel (located at 515 15th Street NW). An altercation began when others wanted to jump into a picture Brown was taking with two females. Punches were thrown by Brown and one was hospitalized as a result.

The altercation began after the man tried to get into a picture with Brown and two other people, according to the police report, which also quotes Brown as telling the man, “I’m not down with that gay s—” and “I feel like boxing.” The exact context of Brown’s remarks was not immediately clear.
Jet magazine also had Chris Brown on the October 14 cover with the quote “I Identify With Trayvon 100%” (meaning Trayvon Martin, the unarmed 17-year-old who was killed by George Zimmerman).
