Chris Brown is the newest Los Angeles swatting victim, but everyone suffers from this incredibly stupid crime. Police received a 911 call Monday afternoon that a domestic disturbance was taking place at a particular house in Hollywood Hills, reports the Inquisitr on Monday, Jan. 21. A mom and dad were fighting, the caller screamed, and the dad had gone for a gun. No mention was made of Chris Brown’s name, but obviously the police know who lives where.
The idea is, bring out the SWAT team, for someone’s personal amusement. When the police arrived at the scene, all was quiet. No one was fighting. There was no gun in sight, and Chris Brown was not even home. Why would anyone think this was funny? It will be even less funny when the Los Angeles Police Department finds the culprit. Similar false reports have been turned in recently on the houses of Tom Cruise and Kris and Bruce Jenner. It happened to Ashton Kutcher late last year.
And the hoax isn’t new – it has been going on for years. But why? For one thing, it makes the police less available when someone really needs them. For another, it costs huge amounts of taxpayer money to have SWAT teams turn out for no reason. They have to respond when called. It would be even worse if they were needed and did not go.
Chris Brown has many enemies, but this crime seems to be more generic than specific. And Chris, himself, was not inconvenienced as much as were the officers involved. It’s just one more problem with being a celeb.
