Chris Brown is having a bad week. On Saturday, Feb. 9, one day before the Grammy Awards, Brown was involved in a single car accident that either badly damaged or totaled his Porsche.
According to his representive, Brown was driving his car -- and on the way to a charity event -- when he was cut off by two vehicles. The rep said:
The occupants [of the vehicles] jumped out, with cameras, and aggressively approached his vehicle. In an effort to remove himself from the situation, he began to back down an alley at which point he [Brown] was cut off by two additional vehicles.
Chris' vehicle was totaled due to this aggressive pursuit by the paparazzi. He is okay.
It is unclear what truly happened, but a police report confirms it was a single car accident. A spokesman for the Beverly Hills Police department released a statement saying:
On Feb. 9, 2013 at approximately 12:03 p.m., entertainer Chris Brown was involved in a solo, non-injury traffic collision in the 600 Block Bedford Drive / Camden Drive alley. Mr. Brown was the driver of the vehicle and collided with a wall. Brown stated that he was being chased by paparazzi causing him to lose control of his vehicle. Brown's Black Porsche was towed from the scene at his request.
Lt. Mike Foxen of the Beverly Hills Police Department said:
There was a car accident. I don’t believe it was totaled, but I don’t work for an insurance company so I can’t say that.
Ironically, the accident occurred on the day before this year's Grammy Awards, which is a source of bad memories for Brown. It was on that same day in 2009 that Brown beat up his then-girlfriend Rihanna, who is again his girlfriend.
Brown later plead guilty to felony assault. He was sentenced to five years probation and six months of community service. Whether or not Brown actually performed his community service is under question, which is part of his aforementioned bad week.
