Chris Brown opens up about his emotional BET Awards Performance.
Following singer Chris Brown’s emotional tribute to Michael Jackson at the 2010 BET Awards in June of this year, many fans were left divided when it came to determining if his performance was authentic or fake.
Some accused the singer of faking his tears by adding eye drops to his eyes before taking to the stage, while other’s brushed off those rumors accepting Chris’ performance as genuine and from the heart.
Two months later, Chris Brown speaks with MTV about his performance stating that his tribute to Michael Jackson was his "ultimate apology.”
"A lot of people don't know, I was going to see Michael Jackson the day he died," Chris told MTV. Observers have often times compared Chris’ dance moves to that of Michael Jackson and his performance at the BET Awards made the comparisons more valid.
"I was on my way to the Staples Center to see him the day he died. When I heard "Man in the Mirror", the words started speaking to me in my personal life. It just touched me. It wasn't fake. I know people were trying to put extras on it, but everything was genuine. That was my ultimate apology, hands down."
Not only was Chris Brown’s performance one of the most memorable moments of the night but it has managed to redeem him amongst music fans that had forgotten about Chris following his much publicized physical altercation with Rihanna.
His single “Deuces” is currently climbing the charts and is number 29 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.
