Chris Brown probation revoked over alleged Washington DC assault

Chris Brown’s probation regarding the 2009 assault of then-girlfriend Rihanna was revoked on Dec. 16, 2013 due to the recent charges filed in Washington DC claiming Brown allegedly hit a man, according to TMZ.

Brown was arrested in 2009 after a physical altercation with Rihanna, who suffered two large contusions on her face, a bloody nose and a split lip. There were also reports that she had bite marks on her body. Rihanna told authorities that Brown threatened to kill her and choked her until she lost consciousness. In August of that year he was sentenced to 5 years probation and 180 days of community service.

TMZ reports that the singer was in court Monday for a progress hearing at which time the judge found he was not following the rules of his probation.

Brown was not sent to jail because Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James R. Brandlin felt he was doing well with his anger management rehabilitation, but he did order Brown to stop using medical marijuana, TMZ notes.

ABC News reports that Judge Brandlin also told Brown he still must perform 1,000 hours of community labor as part of his sentence in the Rihanna case.

According to TMZ, a hearing on the matter will take place in Feb. 2014 to determine if Brown should be behind bars.

ABC reports that in October Brown was accused of hitting a man in Washington DC who tried to snap a photo of the singer.
