While Dancing With The Stars' Cheryl Burke appeared on The Joy Behar show to discuss her new book Dance Lessons, the professional dancer also shared her dislike for singer Chris Brown's appearance on the dance competition airing Tuesday, March 28, 2011.
In reference to Brown's highly publicized domestic violence charges stemming from an altercation with ex-girlfriend Rihanna, Burke told guest host Robin Quivers:
“Ya know just for me, looking at the experience that he went through it really reminds me of my abuse and the relationships that I had, especially in high school, and I’m very sensitive to that and I write about it in my book. And I feel like it’s something women can relate to and people shouldn’t ignore what happened.”
Although Burke wasn't in agreement with Brown's appearance, his fan's were in full support of the "Deuces" star giving two standing ovations for his performances of "Beautiful People", "Yeah 3X" and "Forever", as well as helping DWTS receive its best-ever season opening results show with nearly 19 million viewers. Furthermore, Brown's lip-synced appearance upped the viewership by 31 percent compared to last year (10).
The hefty boost in ratings proves ABC's decision, to allow the "Deuces" star to perform after his outburst following his recent Good Morning America performance, to be a good one. Already having a tough time shaking the label of having anger management issues, the singer made headlines just last week when he smashed a dressing room window once questions by veteran reporter Robin Roberts wouldn't leave the topic of Rihanna.
