Chris Brown is currently serving time in a L.A. County jail after a judge handed down a sentence for a probation violation. Brown has been on probation as a result of the assault charges from the infamous 2009 incident with his former girlfriend, Rihanna. He violated his probationary agreement when he got into an altercation with an unnamed man in Washington, D.C. earlier this year. That altercation led to felony assault charges, a clear violation of his probationary agreement.
The judge sentenced Brown to a full year in jail but gave him credit for the 116 days that he spent in rehab and the 59 days that he already spent behind bars awaiting his sentencing. It seems that Brown is using his time wisely, as HipHopDX states that he has been collaborating with fellow artist James Debarge. Debarge is widely recognized for his work as an American R&B and soul singer. He is currently in the administrative segregation unit of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department County Jail for men as a result of drug and assault charges.
The two singers have adjacent cells and although they can't see each other, they have used this new found time to begin working on a collaborative project. HipHopDX reports that the duo has penned three new songs already. While it's unclear exactly how much time Chris Brown will actually have to serve, it's evident that he is doing his best to continue his musical ambitions.
