Late yesterday police responded to Chris Brown's residence in Los Angeles after receiving an anonymous 911 call, claiming that a mother and father were fighting and the father had left to get a gun.
Police officers surrounded the house and quickly determined that it was another case of ‘swatting,’ where someone calls the police to a home, in hopes of bringing in a swat unit. Pranksters typically target celebrities such as Chris Brown.
Website TMZ claims the 23 year-old singer was not at the property during the incident, but members of his staff were.
Brown’s parents arrived shortly after officers had started searching the home, and he was later spotted at Greystone Manor Supper Club in Los Angeles with his on again, off again, girlfriend Rihanna.
Chris is the latest in a long string of swatting pranks which have included Tom Cruise, Ashton Kutcher, Justin Beiber, Miley Cyrus, Simon Cowell, and Kim Kardashian.
Kim Kardashian took to twitter last week after her family was targeted. The incident included her mother Kris Jenner, stepfather Bruce Jenner, and her two step-sisters Kendall and Kylie. The prankster claimed there was a shooter in the house and they heard gunshots. The result was a heavily armed unit of police officers knocking on their door.
Kim tweeted:
''Just got a call from my mom telling me about this prank call that someone was shot in their home and 15 swat team & 3 helicopters showed up!”
She went on to tweet:
“These prank calls are NOT funny. People can get arrested for this! I hope they find out how is behind this. It's dangerous & not a joke!”
A 12 year-old was taken into custody at his parents’ Southern California home in December, but was later released. Officials believe the boy was responsible for a series of swatting incidents at high-profile homes, including Ashton Kutcher and Justin Beiber.
