Chris Brown and Rihanna can reunite, judge reduces restraining order

On February 22, a stay away order that barred singer Chris Brown from contacting ex-girlfriend Rihanna was lifted by Los Angeles County Judge Patricia Schnegg.

Brown was present at the hearing on Tuesday with defense attorney Mark Geragos as the judge officially reduced his five year restraining order against Rihanna, born Robyn Fenty.

Judge Schnegg granted the leniency because, “[Brown] has done a very good job of completing the domestic violence program in a timely manner," she stated.

For now, the “I Can Transform You” singer is permitted to talk to the “Umbrella” performer, but “He just can't bother her,” RiRi’s attorney Donald Etra stated.

After pleading guilty to felony assault, the “Run It” singer was sentenced to 5 years probation, 1,400 hours of community service, and 52 hours of domestic violence classes after he brutally and infamously attacked his then multi-platinum selling girlfriend two years ago on the eve of the Grammy awards.

The previous court order required Chris Brown, 21 to stay 50 yards away from Ms. Fenty and 10 yards at industry events such as award shows.

The “Loud” singer is fine with the new  arrangement, "I have spoken to [Rihanna], and she does not object to the reduction to the stay away order," Etra told the judge.

Hours before the 2009 Grammy Awards, police found a bloody and battered Rihanna Fenty in a Hollywood neighborhood. The argument started after the Barbados native found a text message from another girl on Brown’s phone.

The police report detailed the argument between the couple that escalated until the Virgina singer/dancer brutally beat his then girlfriend, punched her, put her into a headlock, and bit her. As Robyn screamed for help, the teenage heartthrob fled the scene. Neighborhood residents responded to the "Umbrella" singer's screams by calling 911.

Shortly after the attack, TMZ leaked a picture of a battered Rihanna online.

Just weeks after the “What’s My Name?” singer was attacked by Brown, the pair reunited in Miami for a short time. Later in an interview, Princess RiRi expressed how going back to her abusive ex was a mistake.

Since then, Chris Brown has publicaly apologized numerous times and has struggled to get his career back.
