It's been a heated week on Twitter following the 54th annual Grammy Awards on Sunday, February 12, 2012. Though the nearly four hour show was jam-packed with exciting performances, one - or make that two - performances by Chris Brown, got some viewers pretty riled up. One of those viewers, Miranda Lambert, happened to be sitting right there in the STAPLES Center audience
In light of Chris Brown's involvement in the 2009 beating of his then-girlfriend, Rihanna on the eve of the Grammys, Miranda Lambert, among others, did not feel that Chris Brown should have been given the Grammy stage once, let alone twice. Further fueling Grammy viewers' and Miranda Lambert's fire was the fact that Chris Brown won a Grammy for Best R&B Album.
Miranda Lambert became quite vocal about her disgust via Twitter, having tweeted:
And Chris Brown twice? I don't get it. He beat on a girl...
And later:
Not cool that we act like that didn't happen. He needs to listen to Gunpowder and lead and be put back in his place. Not at the Grammys.
When other Twitter users began trending the phrase "wife beater", Chris Brown lashed out in response, tweeting:
HATE ALL U WANT BECUZ I GOT A GRAMMY Now! That's the ultimate F**k off!
Not intimidated in the least, Miranda Lambert later tweeted to her fans:
Oh and one more thing for all who are asking....I have a Grammy too:)
Though it seems the Twitter waters have stilled for the time being, one wonders what Miranda Lambert would have to say about the latest report by omg! on Yahoo. Omg! reports that not only did Chris Brown attend Rihanna's 24th birthday party the day after the Grammys, but he was seen holding her hand throughout the evening.
Outraged readers responded to the article with a flood of comments suggesting that Rihanna is a fool for taking him back and that if she's beaten again, which readers seem to think is inevitable, it will be her own fault for not learning the first time. Country music fans who have enjoyed such tough-girl songs from Miranda Lambert as Gunpowder & Lead, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Time to Get A Gun and Sin For A Sin might wonder what the country singer's reaction would be to Rihanna's return to Chris Brown. If Miranda Lambert is aware of the apparent reunion, however, she's keeping quiet on Twitter.
Whether or not Miranda Lambert decides to jump back into the ring with Chris Brown, it appears he's not off the hook just yet. Five days after the Grammys, #ChrisBrown is still a hot hashtag on Twitter.
