There is a large and growing network of bicycle trails in Central Florida and to assist people in finding them the Orlando Sentinel is providing an online, interactive Orlando Bike Trail Guide for cyclists. Orange, Seminole and Lake counties have more than 115 miles of paved trails, some of these link to each other while others are self contained as loops.
The Orlando Bike Trail Guide lists trails in Orange, Seminole and Lake counties with plans to expand the list to include other areas of Florida in the future. The first webpage includes a map with trail locations within the three counties. Clicking on any of the trail names takes the reader to a page with specific information about the trail.
Pages with individual trail information include a map of the trail with markers for the trail head and end point, restaurants and bike shops near the trail, and parking. A looping, sped-up video displays a section of the trail and a written description of the trail provides cyclists with a solid idea of what to expect if they ride the trail. Comments from trail users enhance the descriptions with personal experiences.
Exploring the Central Florida area on bicycle trails is a fun activity for families to do on a pleasant day. Commuters may find biking these trails can replace a tedious drive in slow highway traffic. Exercise enthusiasts can pedal their way to health on these trails without worry of vehicles on busy roadways.
