It has been a little more than a month since the tragic incident at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut left 26 dead. To honor those that lost their lives on that day, it was announced on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, that the chorus from Sandy Hook will sing "America the Beautiful" before Super Bowl XLVII on Sunday.
26 children from Sandy Hook Elementary will be included in the chorus that will perform before the game kicks off between the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens. This number is significant in remembering the 20 first-grade children and six adults that were killed in a shooting on Dec. 14, 2012.
The performance will air live as a part of CBS's Super Bowl pregame show. Alicia Keys is set to sing the national anthem.
This will not be the first time that the NFL has helped to honor the memory and pay tribute to those that lost their lives at Sandy Hook. Numerous players and teams paid tribute with initials written on uniforms and moments of silence before their games in mid-December.
On Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, the NFL will help bring about a great tribute to those in Newtown, Connecticut that lost their lives and those that lost people they love.
