‘Chopped’ finds the 'Leftovers Rescue Mission’ on Food Network

On a recent episode of "Chopped" offered four more chefs an opportunity to compete for the $10,000 and the very elusive title of a champion in this episode where the chefs were given items in the three mystery boxes in this episode titled, “Short and Sweetbreads.”

The judges for this episode were: Chris Santos, Alex Guarnaschelli and Aaron Sanchez and the host, as always is Ted Allen.

Competing in this episode are: Chris Lukic chef/owner of The Yellow Plum in Bloomfield, N.J., Connie Tran, chef/owner of a popup restaurant in Los Angeles, Mike Kollarik, chef de cuisine of Eddie & the Wolf in N.Y.C. and Kyle McClelland co-owner and chef at Prospect in Brooklyn, N.Y.

The first round appetizer mystery box contained: Leftover Turkey Meatloaf, Leftover Kimchi, Leftover Naan and Leftover Baked Ziti. Connie made meatloaf & baked ziti tom yum soup using shallots, chicken stock and coconut milk. Mike made crispy meatloaf with naan puree using bread crumbs, sriracha and ginger. Chris made a turkey meatloaf flatbread with kimchi vinaigrette using frisee, sesame oil and rice wine. Kyle made warm spinach salad with naan & kimchi dressing using cream, mushrooms and garlic. The chef eliminated from this round was Chris who did not transform the naan.

The entree round contained: Leftover Shepherd's Pie, Leftover Hard-Boiled Eggs, Hot Sauce Packets and Leftover Broccoli Casserole. Mike made reconstructed baked potato with sausage patties using cream, milk and paprika. Connie made beef & potato wonton with broccoli sauce using yogurt, mint and wontons. Kyle made spicy penne Bolognese with potato foam sauce using cream, milk and onions. The chef who was "Chopped" in this round was Connie, who forgot the hot sauce.

The dessert round included: Banana Pudding, Leftover Marmalade Packets, Broken Crackers, Leftover Bacon. Kyle made vanilla financier with candied bacon using peanut butter, flour and eggs. Mike made orange marmalade ice cream using orange zest, eggs and cream.

The winner of the $10,000 and "Chopped" champion was Mike Kollarik, who will share his winnings with his family.
