On a recent episode of "Chopped" offered four more chefs an opportunity to compete for the $10,000 and the very elusive title of a champion in this episode where the chefs were given items in the three mystery boxes in this episode titled, “Peri-Peri Determined.”
The judges for this episode were: Marc Murphy, Maneet Chauhan and Geoffrey Zakarian and the host, as always is Ted Allen.
Competing in this episode are: Auria Abraham, chef/owner of Auria’s Malaysian Kitchen in Brooklyn, N.Y., Georgeann Leaming, chef and co-owner of Suppa in Philadelphia, Melissa Torre, owner and baker at Cookie Confidential, also in Philadelphia and Eric Buss, executive chef at Wood & Vine in Hollywood, Calif.
The first round appetizer mystery box contained: Chicken Wings, Stroopwafels, Asian Pears and Peri-Peri. Auria made peri-peri & honey fried chicken wings using cayenne, vinegar and garlic powder. Eric made peri-peri & stroopwafels fried chicken wings using flour, vinegar and mint. Georgeann made five spice rubbed chicken wings using onion powder, paprika and turmeric. Melissa made Chicken and Waffles using paprika, poppy seeds and honey. The chef eliminated in this round was Melissa because her chicken was not cooked.
The entree round contained: Sunflower Seed Spread, Lamb Breast, Blueberries and Lardo. Auria made lamb curry using garlic, ginger and cardamom. Georgeann made lamb short ribs using mustard, sage and thyme. Eric made lamb & lardo linguine with pickled blueberries using cumin, turmeric and cinnamon. The chef who was "Chopped" in this round was Auria whose blueberry did not reach all the plates.
The dessert round included: Butternut Squash, Pie Dough, Aged Gouda Cheese, Nordic Honey Wine. Georgeann made Nordic honey wine & butternut squash pie using nutmeg, star anise and cinnamon. Eric also made butternut squash pie using sugar, cinnamon and sage.
The winner of the $10,000 and "Chopped" champion was Georgeann, who will use the money towards a restaurant she and her boyfriend are opening.
