‘Chopped’ chefs are ordered to 'Waste Not' on Food Network

Tonight's episode of "Chopped" offered four more chefs an opportunity to compete for the $10,000 and the very elusive title of a champion in this episode where the chefs were given items in the mystery boxes that would otherwise be thrown away in this episode titled, “Waste Not.”

The judges for this episode are: Aaron Sanchez, Marcus Samuelsson and special guest chef Hooni Kim. The host, as always is Ted Allen.

Competing in this episode are: Pip Freeman, chef/owner of “Three Letters” in Brooklyn, N.Y. Sarah Pouzar, executive chef of El Forno in NYC. Lauren Von Der Pool is a personal chef for Venus and Serena Williams. Damon Gordon is the executive chef of Water Grill in Santa Monica, Calif.

The first round appetizer mystery box contained: Lobster Bodies, Juicer Pulp, Used Tea Bags, and Stale Pita. Damon made heirloom tomato and lobster salad using white wine, chicken broth and basil. Sarah made lobster caprese salad using honey, heirloom tomatoes and mozzarella. Lauren made white bean lobster soup infused with juicer pulp using cannellini beans, maple syrup and purple potatoes. Pip made lobster panzanella salad using tomato, cilantro and egg yolk. Pip was the chef eliminated from this round because his dish needed more spices.

The entree round contained: Brownie Edges, Near-Empty Bottle of Ranch Dressing, Onion Ends and Rotisserie Chicken Picked to the Bone. Sarah made chicken taco with ancho brownie bread pudding using sourdough, goat cheese and white wine. Lauren made chicken taco with cilantro & spinach ranch sauce using mushrooms, maple syrup and tequila. Damon made rotisserie chicken mole with a charred green onion using jalapenos, white wine and jasmine rice. The chef who was "Chopped" in this round was Lauren who was not happy she was eliminated.

The dessert round included: Pineapple Skin and Core, Last Piece of Cheese, Cucumber Peels and Brown Avocado. Damon made avocado & Berry compote with cheese fondue using dark chocolate, star anise and honey. Sarah made cheddar blini with avocado mascarpone crema using dried mango, whiskey and cornmeal.

The winner of the $10,000 and "Chopped" champion was Sarah, who now has so much more confidence in herself.
