Last night's episode of "Chopped" offered four home chefs that are also fathers an opportunity to compete for the $10,000 and the very elusive title of champion in this episode where the chefs were given items in the three mystery boxes in this episode titled, “Four Fathers”

The judges for this episode were: Scott Conant, Maneet Chauhan and Chris Santos with the host, as always is Ted Allen.

Competing in this episode are: Herb Hand, offensive line coach for Vanderbilt University and father of three from Nashville, Tenn. Ian-Max Enriquez is a stay at home dad with two daughters from Los Angeles. Keith Young is a firefighter and father of three from Wantagh, N.Y. who lost his wife to breast cancer last year, and Richie Katzenberg from Wooster, Mass., who lives with his partner, John and their six children, three from each.

The first round appetizer mystery box contained: Salt and Vinegar Potato Chips, Dover Sole Filets, Red Russian Kale and Sour Cream. Keith made salt and vinegar chip fish cakes using cornichons, bread crumbs and dill. Ian-Max made deep-fried Dover sole with warm kale salad using bacon, cornichons and mayonnaise. Richie made potato chip-crusted Dover sole using apple, lime and cilantro. Herb made potato chip-crusted Dover sole with bacon & garlic kale using lemon and scallions. The dad eliminated in this round was Ian-Max because he ran out of time.

The entree round contained: Single-Malt Scotch, Lamb Porterhouse, Rapini and Tamarind Paste. Keith made Indian spiced lamb porterhouse using fennel seed, garlic and mushrooms. Herb made pan-seared lamb with Thai peanut sauce using fish sauce, coconut milk and soy sauce. Richie made soy & honey marinated lamb chops using onions, red peppers and butter. The chef who was "Chopped" in this round was Keith, whose presentation was lacking.

The dessert round included: Chocolate Cigars, Pretzels, Cocktail Nuts and Rice Pudding. Keith made his late wife’s favorite dessert, rice pudding crème brulee using vanilla, egg yolks and cream. Richie made stuffed French toast with raspberry mascarpone filling using French baguette, vanilla, mint.

The winner of the $10,000 and "Chopped" champion was Keith, who promises he will put the money to good use. He came there for his kids and to honor his wife, to show them he is on the road to healing. God bless you, Keith and your beautiful family.
