People often dream of selling all of their belongings and hitting the open road. They spin poetic tales with their friends before heading back to jobs that may not be as fulfilling as they once hoped they would be. And every once in a while, you hear about people who wake up one day and start to plan their escape.
I was one of those people. I left my corporate life two and a half years ago. It wasn’t to travel, although life is slowly evolving in that direction. It was to explore the life around me, and to find other options. Needless to say, hearing Kim Dinan’s HuffPost Live interview struck a particularly resonant note.
Dinan (writer of 'so-many-places.com') had always wanted to write and see the world, but she had a corporate job that was too consuming to include daily time to write, and only allowed for two weeks of vacation a year. She began to plan. Part of the plan was convincing her husband that there was a different way.
They sold their home and most of their belongings, and have been traveling ever since. It’s been more than 15 months, and they show no sign of slowing down. It has opened up the way Dinan not only sees the world, but the way she sees how life can be lived (rather than sticking to how she thought life “should” be lived).
Dinan, now the author of Life On Fire: A Step-By-Step Guide To Living Your Dreams, provides a fascinating take on exactly how possible it is to live the life you have been dreaming of. So, take a listen to her interview, and then head over to her website to learn more about her amazing journey.
