Choosing the Superbowl teams by best beer cities

The day before the football championships I like to choose the winner by which city has the best hometown beer. The winner of this unscientific method may not be my personal favorite, but will see what happens. Last year was 50%, that’s why I am not a gambler. First up is the AFC championship game between the Denver Broncos and the New England Patriots. 41 breweries are listed for the Great Boston area. A lot are small breweries and brewpubs, but 41 is an impressive number. Of course Boston Beer Company, brewers of Sam Adams is the big boy and they do make some very tasty brews. More and more Sam Adams is creating plenty of small batch brews in addition to the year round and seasonal beers.
Denver and its outlaying areas is home to 43 breweries, including mega-brewer Coors. But putting Coors aside I give the advantage to Denver, which is home to Great Divide Brewing Company, one of my favorites. Wynkoop Brewing Company is also there, which was founded by John Hickenlooper, Colorado’s current governor.
The NFC pits the Seattle Seahawks against the San Francisco 49ers.
Seattle is home to 31 breweries in total, but none of these beers reach south Florida, so it is hard for me to judge them.
San Francisco claims home to 40 breweries of various sizes. I am partial to Anchor Steam, which I have drunk and enjoyed for at least the past 20 years.
So this years pick to go to the Superbowl are The Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers, lets see how picking with beer does this year.
