There are tons of different video games for couples to play that are multiplayer games, but are they really good for couples? Some of them are while others could cause conflict between you and your spouse. The first thing to remember about any game is that it is a competition. Depending on the type of competitor ambition you and your spouse have it should reflect on the types of video games you play.
Super Mario Brothers
Super Mario Brothers usually comes in the bundle pack when you first purchase the Wii. Now Mario Bros has usually been a great game to play, especially in multiplayer. This one however could end up being very bad. Playing Super Mario Bros as a multiplayer on the Wii means that you both have to stay in the screen together or the player left behind dies. It's complicated and takes a lot of team work. Unless you have great communication and team work with your spouse and neither of you get to obsessive of video games you should be fine playing this game together.
Fit and Active 2
Both the Wii Fit and Wii Active 2 video games are great for couples to play. Both of these games are fitness or exercise games. Most of us out there hate to workout but with the Wii it can be great fun. There are different activities, exercises, stretches, and resistance that you can choose from. Working out as a couple will help keep you both motivated to keep the progress up. It's also a lot more fun to work out with someone than by yourself.
Tetris Party Deluxe
Tetris Party Deluxe is a classically fun video games that helps keep your mind sharp. It's not an extremely competitive game. When you play the multiplayer version if someone dies first (the game will go till the last person standing loses) they will get an option to practice. Virtually anyone who dies before the end of the game gets to keep playing a practice game so they aren't just bored watching you play. It's quite fun and it's about the players mind being able to solve puzzles. Which is why there isn't much competition.
ABC Wipeout The Game
ABC Wipeout The Game is a competitive game. If you have ever seen Wipeout on tv then you know exactly what you have to do on this game. It's a competition where you have to bounce on huge balls, hurtle sweepers, and avoid being hit by your competitors throwing balls at you. Oh yes your sweetheart sitting next to you could with the hit of a button throw you into the pool of water underneath your obstacle course with a tennis ball, dodge ball, or even a medicine ball. If you fall into the water you get two more tries if you fail on all three of your tries then you wipeout, just like the name. Being highly competitive and knowing your spouse just pelted you in the face with a tennis ball, whether on a game or not, could cause some mixed feelings of anger and revenge. Be careful in playing this game you could end up getting pissed off about nothing.
Wii Play
Wii Play is a video game that has nine different games that you can play. These games are shooting range, find mii, table tennis, pose mii, laser hockey, billards, fishing, charge, and tanks. When you play any of these games it's competitive, but not dependently on the other player. It's about speed when playing multiplayer, whoever's better and faster will win. It is a really fun game to play as a couple. Each of these games is fun to play and has its advantages and disadvantages.
Those of us out there who don't like playing video games because we aren't good at them should definitely think about investing in a Nintendo Wii. The Wii is fun, keeps you active, and has tons of games that you can play. The Wii has great interaction where you can make your Mii (or your character) look pretty close to your real self. It's tons of fun playing video games with your spuose and could help you connect in a different way. Just remember that if a game is to competitive or dependent on the moves of the other player it's probably not a good couple game.
