Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church in Columbia, TN is taking the initiative to inform teens and parents on current issues. These current issues include drugs, suicide, and sexual abstinence. Currently, these areas are present challenges in the community and nationally. Pastor Victor Goodman and leadership have taken steps to host workshops in these three areas on the next three Wednesdays of February. (See the article link for additional details.) The workshop presenters are experts in their fields and will be able to provide excellent resources for all who attend. Youth should walk away equipped to make good value-based decisions as the knowledge to share with peers.
The following Scripture begins as follows, “My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.”(Hosea 4:6a) The Bible is putting knowledge as a primary means to avoid destruction. Destruction means to bring down, tear down, and to come to ruin. Wayman Chapel is aligning with the Bible and making the distribution of knowledge a priority. The workshops will offer a valuable opportunity to combat ignorance.
One of tools that a young person or any person cannot do without is knowledge. Knowledge will assist you in making the right choices. It provides an understanding on a topic otherwise that would leave a person helpless and/or hopeless. God gives instructions through His word. These instructions are meant to be life to those who follow them. More specifically, His word was made manifest in His Son, Jesus Christ.
The Word of God continues to say, “Because you have rejected knowledge, I will reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.”(Hosea 4:6b) There is a price to pay when rejecting knowledge. It will cost you. Believer, consider this Scripture and weigh the consequences of ignorance?
