Choctaw Casino Pocola opens sports bar, coffee bar and adds more gaming (Photos)

The Choctaw Casino Pocola will unveil the second phase of its renovations on March 18, 2013 with the addition of a sports bar, a coffee bar and 23,000 square feet of gaming space.

The Fort Smith region has four casinos in the immediate area for people to play at, however only one will make those players feel like they are in Las Vegas. That casino is the Choctaw Casino Pocola. Over the last year the casino has undergone a complete renovation, as well as preparations for a luxurious hotel which will open in May. The Choctaw Casino completed the first phase of its renovation with the opening of a new restaurant named Seven Ponies and an ornate bar in the middle of the casino known as the Oak Tree Lounge in December of 2012. On March 18th the casino will reveal the second phase of their renovations with the opening of Trophy's Bar and Grill and the Coffee Cafe.

Trophy's Bar and Grill is the casino's first sports bar, and will take the place of the old Blue Moon diner which closed in 2012. The establishment features ten televisions, an ample dining room and a long bar where gamers can plop on a stool and enjoy a cold one. Trophy's serves traditional sports bar cuisine like burgers, hot wings, sandwiches and wraps. They also carry some unique items like their Flat Bread Pizza. Trophy's serves five varieties of flat bread pizza: Buffalo (this examiner's personal favorite), Cali-Style Veggie, Chicken Marguerite, Pepperoni and Sausage. Of course all of this food will require a refreshing beverage to quench that thirst. Trophy's has that covered with all of the major domestic beers like Bud, Coors Light and Miller Light, as well as imported beers like Dos Eqquis and Heineken. Trophy's also plans to carry all of the major sporting events like Arkansas Razorback and Oklahoma Sooner football in the fall and Major League Baseball in the summer time.

Coffee Cafe was a last minute addition to the second phase of the renovations at the Choctaw Casino, but it is those last minute things which can make the difference between routine humdrum and trend setting. Here is why Coffee Cafe works. First off coffee bars are a popular destination. Many cities across the nation have Starbucks coffee shops located on every corner. In fact Fort Smith has its own version of Starbucks called Sweet Bay, which has become even more popular than the Starbucks located in Fort Smith itself. It is no secret that gamblers come to the Choctaw Casino from various places. Many of these gamers love coffee. Can they get coffee at Seven Ponies? Yes. Can they get a latte at Seven Ponies? Not necessarily. That is where Coffee Cafe will come in handy. Those who are craving an iced mocha while they play or the early morning hotel guest who cannot function without his or her flavored coffee will enjoy Choctaw's newest coffee bar. Coffee Cafe serves cappuccinos, espressos, macchiatos, as well as pastries and sandwiches perfect for breakfast or a light lunch. The coffee bar will also offer bottled sodas and water for those who are not craving coffee.

The last addition is 23,000 feet of gaming space and 750 new machines. If this sounds like a discrepancy it is, but it is a good one. Many customers have said in the past that the gaming space is difficult to navigate through because the large amount of machines made it difficult for players to walk through. By adding less machines this will give people a wider berth to walk through which will make the floor a little bit more space friendly.

The casino plans to unveil two more phases of renovations. One will occur in May when the hotel opens up and the second in July when Gilley's will open its doors.
