The Pasta Shop loves you and wants you to eat chocolate.
That’s right: free samples, special discounts -- and more -- this Saturday, February 8, during The Pasta Shop’s fifth annual For the Love of Chocolate tasting event from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at their Fourth Street store in Berkeley.
Just so you’ll know going in, this is the high-end stuff you’ll be sampling, including local chocolatiers Barlovento, Charles Chocolates and Coco Délice, with their unique and elegant sweets – in addition to generous samples from other American and European makers.
Also, on hand for the event, Alice Medrich, who will be signing copies of her new book Seriously Bitter Sweet - The Ultimate Dessert Maker's Guide to Chocolate, a collection of over 150 recipes, both sweet and savory, developed for a new universe of percentage -- 54%, 61%, 72% -- chocolates. It’s a treasury of information, tricks, and techniques to help cooks understand and cook with these excellent new products. Get an autographed copy for your D.I.Y. Valentine sweetie (I love you! Make something for me!), or yourself, (I love you! Look at this beautiful truffle!) You can’t lose.
The Pasta Shop cheese counter will also be sampling cheese and chocolate pairings.
And just for the day, take 10% off all things chocolate -- including chocolate for baking, all chocolatiers’ assortments, confections, sauces, and cakes from the bakery.
Pick up something seriously special for your Valentine at the Pasta Shop this Saturday. Then on the way back to your car, you can get a Valentine’s Day card to go with it from the one of the shops along Fourth Street: Papyrus (clever), Castle in the Air (classic), Miki’s Paper (elegant), or Paper Source (contemporary).
