
Chocolate Mousse Pie
Silky smooth and decadently rich chocolate mousse, layered in pretty parfait glasses or Oreo Cookie crust, and piled high with fresh whipped cream. Top it all off with chocolate curls for an elegant presentation!
Tips for a Perfect Chocolate Mousse
Use high quality chocolate chips like Ghiradelli or Callebaut Semisweet. Mini chocolate chips are easier to melt.
This chocolate mousse is made with raw eggs, so it is imperative that only the freshest eggs are purchased, inspected for cracks, and that they are refrigerated correctly. Likewise, the finished mouse must always be kept refrigerated.
Always use a clean, dry bowl before whipping egg whites.
Make a Chocolate Mousse Pie with an Oreo Cookie or Graham Cracker crust for a totally unique dessert. Likewise, a flaky pie crust is also an excellent base for a pie.

Chocolate Mousse Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 1/4 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup Kahlua or similar coffee liqueur, optional
- 1/4 cup butter
- 3 egg whites
- 3 Tablespoons white sugar
- 3/4 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1 - 9" Best Ever Pie Crust, baked, Graham Cracker Crust or Oreo Cookie Crust, optional
- Chocolate curls for garnish
Directions:
In a medium bowl over hot water, melt chocolate chips, Kahlua and butter. Do not allow to burn. Remove from hot water, set aside until lukewarm. Do not allow it to harden or become too thick. In a clean mixing bowl, whip egg whites until soft peaks form. Add sugar and whip a while longer until stiff peaks hold their shape. Transfer to a clean bowl and set aside.
In the empty mixing bowl (no need to wash it), whip heavy whipping cream until stiff.
Gently fold egg whites and whipped cream into chocolate mousse mixture until smooth and blended. Be careful not to deflate the egg whites. Spoon into parfait glasses, decorate with whipped cream (recipe follows) and chocolate curls. Or, spread mousse into a baked pie shell, and decorate as with chocolate mousse parfaits.
Chill at least 4 hours before serving.
Makes 1) 9" pie or 6-8 chocolate mousse parfaits. Refrigerate any leftovers.
Whipped Cream Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup confectioners' sugar (powdered sugar), sifted
- 1/2 tsp pure vanilla
Directions:
- Using whisk attachment, whip heavy cream with a high speed mixer or hand mixer until semi stiff.
- Add powdered sugar and vanilla and whip until stiff.
- Spoon into pastry bag fitted with large star tip and decorate chocolate mousse or pie.
