Chocolate honey cake recipe

Try this cake that is sweetened with honey!

Honey Chocolate Cake
 

  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 1 cup honey
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups flour, sifted
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 tsp. baking power
  • ¾  cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (or almond)

 
Cream butter and beat honey slowly together. Beat eggs in one at a time.  In separate bowl mix flour, cocoa, salt, and baking soda and baking powder--sift three times. Mix buttermilk and vanilla in a separate bowl. Add dry ingredients to butter and honey mixture alternating with buttermilk mixture--mix together. Pour into 2 greased and floured 9inch pans.
Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes.
 
Frost cake with any type of frosting you desire or...
 
Frosting

  • 8oz cream cheese
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (almond or raspberry)

 
Cream until smooth; spread on cake.

    After tons of searching I am so happy to finally find a recipe that uses honey INSTEAD of sugar. My daughter will be very excited for a delicious chocolate cake on her 3rd birthday, and I will be happy not to have to deal with her extreme sugar sensitivity in the aftermath!
