Chocolate covered raisin infused oatmeal cookies

In 1927 the Blumenthal Chocolate Company introduced chocolate covered “Raisinets”. The same company that invented Goobers and SnoCaps.  Memories of finding this popular confection at movie theaters and baseball snack shacks, enjoying this confection is a childhood right of passage. Today you can find raisins covered in milk and dark chocolate, carob and yogurt. The confection even has it's own National holiday,  They are also an amusing addition to baked goods. Hearty and healthy, chocolate covered raisins infuse these oatmeal cookies with fun and flavor.

Chocolate covered raisins combine the antioxidant qualities of chocolate and the bone and digestive health benefits of raisins. Mixed in your oatmeal cookies they make a filling snack that is ideal to throw into your pack as an alternative to GORP for a day on the go. Just out of the oven they are the perfect accompaniment to a tall glass of milk.  As long as you don't eat the whole batch in one sitting, they are a suitable addition to a balanced diet.

Pre heat your oven to 350 degrees.  Mix all ingre4dients until well combined.  Drop heaping tablespoons full of batter onto lightly greased baking sheet.   Bake 20 minutes till lightly browned.
