Chocolate cake recipe: Better than sex cake is delicious and easy to make

For those of you who want to make everything from scratch, this recipe may go against your grain. However, if you make it once, you’ll end up making it again, and again, and again. It’s really, really yummy and it turns out wonderfully every time.

One little hint? Don’t buy the pre-crushed Heath bars – crush your own as you get a better flavor and the texture is better. Although any of your local groceries carry Heath bar pieces in the baking aisle, the pieces are almost powdery and don’t seem to have the same amount of chocolate coating. Buy four Heath bars, stick them in a plastic bag and pound them with a mallet or roll over them with a rolling pin. You want them crushed enough to use as a topping, but don’t go overboard or you will end up with powder.

The second little hint? Don’t try to make a layer cake out of this unless you want a real mess. Personal experience talking here! It looks wonderfully, but it’s just a bit more of a hassle.

Better Than Sex Cake Recipe

Ingredients for Better Than Sex Cake:

  • 15-ounce German chocolate cake mix
  • 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk
  • 12-ounce jar caramel ice cream topping
  • 8 ounces of Cool Whip
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 4 Heath candy bars (or any other chocolate-covered toffee candy), crushed

Directions for making Better Than Sex Cake:

Bake the cake in a 9x13 cake pan according to package directions. Cool completely.

Poke holes or cut slits in the cooled cake about an inch apart. Dump the entire can of condensed milk and spread over the cake. Dump the entire jar of the caramel topping and spread over the cake.

Whip together the Cool Whip, cream cheese, and powdered sugar. Spread over the cake. Sprinkle liberally with the crushed candy pieces. Put in the refrigerator for 1 hour before serving. Enjoy!
