Choc Beer Company is at it again. They’ve been busy the last couple of years carrying the craft beer title for Oklahoma. Choc has expanded their territory outside of Oklahoma, won awards at national and world beer tasting events, brewed new and exciting beers and have worked to produce homebrewers’ products. What’s next?
Choc just announced they will collaborate with the Fellowship of Oklahoma Ale Makers (FOAM) to brew Wild Brew, a limited release beer designed to raise awareness of the annual Wild Brew beer festival in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Wild Brew beer will be available in 22-ounce bottles beginning June 6 throughout Oklahoma. Michael Lalli, Head Brewer explained it this way, “The inaugural 2010 Wild Brew beer was a great success, and we wanted to find a brewing partner to continue the excitement for 2011. I thought that FOAM would be a natural fit for this kind of collaborative effort.”
Tulsa-based FOAM is one of the oldest and largest homebrew clubs in the country. The brewers from Choc and FOAM will collaborate on recipe, and will brew the Wild Brew beer together at the Choc brewery in Krebs, Oklahoma. This marks the second year that Choc has been involved in brewing a beer for Wild Brew. Last year they partnered with Tulsa’s Marshall Brewing to produce an excellent Belgian IPA. The beer this year will again be a Belgian-style IPA, though the recipe will be new for 2011. This will combine the strength of Choc Beer Company and their award winning Belgian-style Signature ales, with the creative and experimental nature of the FOAM homebrewers.
Wild Brew festival is an annual beer festival held in Tulsa, Oklahoma to benefit the Sutton Avian Research Center. Wild Brew festival 2011 is scheduled for Saturday, July 30th at the Tulsa Fairgrounds Exchange Center. Tickets for the event must be purchased in advance.
After last year’s Wild Brew, I’m looking forward to trying this one. Good luck guys! Thanks for thinking out-side-the-beer-box.
Cheers!
