Maksim Chmerkovskiy is done dancing on “Dancing With the Stars,” but fans may not have to bid him farewell entirely quite yet. As many have suspected, it seems Maks may be taking a different position with “DWTS.” Could that be at the judge's table? Gossip Cop shared the scoop on Tuesday.

Last season Maks won “DWTS” with Meryl Davis, and the season before that he did appear as a guest judge one week. He has made it pretty clear he would be open to doing more of that, and Gossip Cop confirms that they are told that gig is what Maks has in mind. He previously told the site that after a break and being paired with Meryl, he fell in love with the show again. He indicated that “whatever position I would be in, it'll be welcomed by me with open arms and I'll do my best.”

While he seems open to staying with the show in some capacity, Chmerkovskiy is done dancing as a pro. He made that clear in his appearance Tuesday on “The View” and Us Weekly shared the details. Fans will be disappointed with that news, but it shouldn't come as a huge surprise. He has been saying for quite some time that he was ready to change direction.

There has been quite a bit of buzz that “DWTS” judge Len Goodman may be looking to step back from the show. If he does, that would be the first permanent change since the show started. At this point, however, nothing has been made official.

Of course Maks was also asked about his dating life, as there has been buzz that Maks and Jennifer Lopez are dating, or that Maksim and Meryl might date as well. Of course he was tight-lipped on that topic. Are you disappointed to hear that Chmerkovskiy is done dancing? Would you like to see him as a “Dancing With the Stars” judge instead?
