Chiwetel Ejiofor slated as top choice to play next James Bond villain

Oscar-nominated actor Chiwetel Ejiofor may be going from a leading role in the Oscar-winning film “12 Years a Slave” to playing a villain in the next “Bond” movie. According to Variety on April 4, the British actor may be targeted to play 007’s nemesis in the next installment in the Bond series.

No offer as of yet has been made to Ejiofor, but the rumor alone has Hollywood buzzing. The casting of an Oscar-nominated actor to play a villain in a James Bond movie wouldn’t be the first time as actor Javier Bardem was a hit in the last movie, “Skyfall.”

Though no plot has been determined for the next “Bond” film, Daniel Craig is expected to return as Bond. Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw and Naomie Harris are also set to return as well as the director Sam Mendes.

If Ejiofor is cast in the role, it will show off his range as an actor. His heroic role in “12 Years a Slave” has scored him many accolades as an actor, but Ejiofor has played the bad guy before. He played a villain in two or his earlier films, “Children of Men” and “Four Brothers.”
