In their 115th encounter in the Mexican League, Chivas de Guadalajara and Cruz Azul ended in a 0-0 at the Omnilife Stadium during the final game of week 7 of the Apertura 2014. Neither Chivas, nor Cruz Azul have played well this season in La Liga MX.

Each team had their moments during the 90 minutes on the pitch generating good plays but coming up short. For the maquina cementera, Argentine Mariano Pavone had several shots in the final minutes of the game. For Chivas, Carlos Rodriguez had two good opportunities but was denied by Javier “Maza” Rodriguez, including clearing one on the line in the early minutes of the game.

The game is considered one of the nation’s “Guadalajara-Mexico City Derbies” between two of the “big four” teams in the Mexican league. In the 115 games between the two squads, Cruz Azul has won 39, Chivas has claimed 36, and there have been 40 draws between the squads.
