The Chisago Lakes Wildcats survived a team bus breakdown and got four goals from senior Katie Johnson to shut out the St. Louis Park Orioles Thursday night at The Rec Center.
The Wildcats scored the first period's lone goal on Alison Ives shot from the right slot.
Johnson scored two of Chisago Lakes three second period goals, the first coming from a pass by Delaney Doriott and she drove through the slot and scored. Her second goal came on an assist from Ives. Laura Monson rounded out the second period scoring with 1:44 left. Megan Lushanko and Alison Borgstrom assisted.
Chisago Lakes, ranked seventh in Class A, according to the publication Let's Play Hockey, exploded for four goals in the third period, the first two coming from Johnson. Her first was on the power play and the second was also assisted by Ives. Lushanko and Borgstrom rounded out the scoring for the Wildcats.
It was the fifth shutout of the season for Chisago Lakes goalie Jamie Dobosenski. The Wildcats increased their record to 17-7 and wrap up the regular season on Saturday as the host the Irondale Knights. St. Louis Park concluded the regular season 3-21-1.
Before the start of tonight's game, four Oriole senior hockey players were honored. Heather Cunningham, Lauren Greenbush, Maya Ingvoldstad and Megan Smith played their final regular season home game.
