There has been much debate regarding the chiropractic profession and personal injury cases. Many personal injury clinics see a high volume of patients, typically over 100 per day, have on-site x-ray systems, multiple chiropractors, exam tables, etc.
Many patients have only been to a chiropractor if they were involved in an automobile accident, work accident, slip and fall, etc. Chiropractors are known to treat a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions, including whiplash and more. It has been questioned many times if the legitimacy of these clinics is ethical and necessary. Many clinics sole reason for seeing such a high volume is strictly monetary. There are close-knit relationships associated amongst personal injury chiropractors and personal injury lawyers. Other close-knit relationships also exist amongst imaging and pain management centers. One often has to question if the patients best interest is always in mind in every case. Are multiple radiographs, MRI's, steroid injections required for every patient? Is a PI patient always so "cookie cutter"?
