Chiptunes can be described as the creation of new music using old sound effects and then-era electronic instruments and techniques, or observed as an enjoyed sub-niche within the community of retro gamers. One of those up-and-coming artists, 8-Bit Synthtown, is appealing to gamers in a giveaway contest to submit artwork for a new branding effort.
Up for grabs is a size-L t-shirt emblazoned with some classic iconography from the legendary Donkey Kong vintage video game, along with a Jam Academy DVD + CD-ROM on learning keyboard and synth skills. Samantha D’uva, the composer-performer behind 8-Bit Synthtown, posted the contest details on Facebook, calling for designers to submit their concepts between January 9th and 23rd, with the winner being announced on Thursday, January 24th.
A curious prompt is given for would-be entrants: “submit your own interpretation of "Sam from 8 Bit Synthtown" Can be any style… as long as it’s original. Have fun, go crazy.” Hopefully for D’uva, she can land a sweet new image for promotional use; while hopefully for one lucky entrant, a retro-fab prize set will be headed their way. 8-Bit Synthtown can also be followed on Twitter @8_BitSynthtown.
