Support the “greener good” at all Chicagoland restaurants
Chipotle Mexican Grill, the chain of burrito restaurants committed to serving food made from sustainably raised ingredients
On Thursday, May 1, all Chicagoland Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurants will donate 50 percent of the day’s proceeds up to $20,000 to Chicago’s Green City Market. Customers must mention Green City Market on May 1 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at any Chicagoland Chipotle restaurant for the contribution to be made.
Chipotle has supported Green City Market for three years through this annual fundraiser and in 2013 raised $20,000. The fundraiser is the first of several events in which Chipotle and Green City Market will partner this summer. Chipotle will participate in Green City Market’s Annual Chef’s Barbecue Fundraiser on July 17, as well as Farmer’s Market Week in August. For the first time, Chipotle will be on site at the Green City Market on August 6 and 9 to distribute “Farmer’s Market Vouchers” to be used as cash to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables.
Thursday, May 1, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
All Chicagoland locations
As part of its ongoing community efforts, Chipotle often supports like-minded local organizations, including farmers markets in Chicago like Green City Market. Chipotle maintains a commitment to supporting sustainable food choices by purchasing only the best ingredients possible, including locally grown produce, when available, as well as some organic options. All Chipotle dairy – cheese and sour cream – is from pasture-raised dairy cows raised without the use of the synthetic growth hormone rBGH, and 100 percent of the meat served in Illinois is naturally raised.
MORE ABOUT CHIPOTLE:
Steve Ells, founder, chairman and co-CEO, started Chipotle with the idea that food served fast did not have to be a typical fast food experience. Today, Chipotle continues to offer a focused menu of burritos, tacos, burrito bowls (a burrito without the tortilla) and salads made from fresh, high-quality raw ingredients, prepared using classic cooking methods and served in a distinctive atmosphere. Through our vision of Food With Integrity, Chipotle is seeking better food from using ingredients that are not only fresh, but that—where possible—are sustainably grown and Responsibly Raised® with respect for the animals, the land, and the farmers who produce the food. In order to achieve this vision, we focus on building a special people culture that is centered on creating teams of top performers empowered to achieve high standards. This people culture not only leads to a better dining experience for our customers, it also allows us to develop future leaders from within. Chipotle opened with a single restaurant in 1993 and currently operates more than 1,650 restaurants. For more information, visit Chipotle.com.
