Ching testmonial match raises $130,000

Under bright sunny skies at Harrel Park, 8229 Laura Koppe Rd in Houston,Texas, the Houston Dynamo and Dynamo Charities announced that the Brian Ching Testimonial Match and other related events held on December 13, 2013 at BBVA Compass Stadium raised $130,000 for The House that Ching Built and Houston Habitat for Humanity.

Ching, Managing Director of the Houston Dash was overwhelmed by the total.

“I’m always overwhelmed by the generosity of our fans," said Ching. "I want to thank all of the volunteers who donated their time to put together such an amazing event. I especially want to thank my mother and my aunts who made over 4,000 leis to help raise funds for this project. They were a huge success. For all those who donated their time and money, I would just like to say mahalo.”

Houston Habitat for Humanity selected the Garcia-Andrade family of Houston's east End.

The monies to fund this effort became the largest fundraising initiative in the history of the Dynamo Charities according to Dynamo Team President Chris Canetti.

“This is the most successful fundraising initiative in Dynamo Charities history. 'This effort was made possible by the great excitement around the Brian Ching testimonial match and the support of the community. These funds will be put to great use thanks to Brian Ching ’s leadership.”
