Orlando is about to experience the grand opening of a Chinese Shotokan school, a proven system of effective self defense and martial fitness. Chinese Sho-to-kan is the accumulation of experience of Professor Pierre Rene and lucky for us in Orlando, it is he who is having the grand opening! For those lucky enough to enroll in his class, you will receive over 4 decades of experience from the Grandmaster himself.

Prof. Pierre having studied Chinese kung fu previously, learned Sho-to-kan ka-ra-te from none other than Grandmaster George Cofield, one of the foremost proponents of ka-ra-te in New York City of the early 1960's. As the Professors experience in Sho-to-kan grew in those early years, a merging of two systems slowly began to take form. After many years of training in Sho-to-kan and kung fu, the synthesis developed is now known today and created by Prof. Pierre as, "Chinese Shotokan!"

Prof. Pierre received his 10th Degree Red Belt in 1981 at the Oriental World of Self Defense (promoted by none other than Grandmaster Aaron Banks) which was an annual martial arts event held at Madison Square Garden in NYC. Prof. Pierre has recently retired from Orange County Govt as the martial arts director for the Parks and Recreation Division. He also taught children at Barnett park in Orlando holding tournaments and then creating the first ever Martial Arts Parade in Orlando. The parade became so popular that the the Governor of Florida along with the  Mayor's of Orange County and Orlando and Senator Siplin made Proclamations of Martial Arts day on November 14th!
