Taiwan's rich cultural heritage has come to the New York area with the Chinese Arts Dancing Ensemble, which will be performing at "Lincoln Center Out of Doors – From Chinatown with Love” at Damrosch Park Bandshell, on Thursday, August 7.
Founded in 1995, the mission of the Chinese Arts Dancing Ensemble, based in Beitou, Taiwan, is to cultivate the beauty of movement and promote the development of dancing as an art form, but through their international performances, the company has also become an ambassador for cultural exchange, generates understanding and appreciation of the essence of Chinese culture.
The ensemble has represented Taiwan numerous times in many different countries’ international folklore festivals and just finished performances at the North Carolina International Folk Festival, in Folkmoot.
Following the North Carolina performance, the Asian American Cultural Circle of Unity (AACCU) invited the Chinese Arts Dancing Ensemble to New York for a cultural exchange. The troupe's performance at Lincoln Center was organized with the help of the Chinese-American Arts Council, and the troupe also performed in Great Neck, Long Island.
